Image Comics; $3.99

As with the previous two issues of this remastered edition of Rob Liefeld’s original Youngblood series, the material benefits from the impressive format and readers benefit from the reasonable cover price.

As the Image explosion was happening – kicked off by Youngblood #1 – there was an element of seeing what was possible, which led to some great comics and also some inconsistencies. This Youngblood Deluxe series seems intent on fixing them with Joe Casey’s dialogue and Matt Yackey’s colors. Make no mistake, though, all of the enthusiasm and kinetic energy of Liefeld’s art, story, and general tone are still there for his legion of fans.

Another reminder of great times past: 27 pages of story and art. Man, those were the days.

An interesting note: in the indicia (on the inside front cover) for this issue, unlike the previous two, there’s a Platinum Studios logo. What does it mean? I don’t know, but it seemed worth noting.
