Rescripted, recolored, relettered, and remastered, Youngblood Deluxe #1 flashes back to the arrival of Image’s Youngblood #1 from Malibu in 1992. With the characters back in the hands of creator Rob Liefeld and new adventures coming as well, it’s an excellent time to revisit the landmark issue in an upgraded presentation.

As it did originally, the debut issue features Shaft, Badrock, Die-Hard, Chapel, Vogue, Photon, Sentinel, Riptide, Cougar, Psi-Fire, and others in a style to which fans of Liefeld’s work New Mutants and X-Force had become accustomed. The issue packed in all the action those fans expected and compounded the effect with a superhero team for the media age, surrounded by adoring fans, scheming bureaucrats, and deadly foes.

It’s great to see this series get such a nice treatment at an affordable cover price.
