Young Avengers #1 – Director’s Cut

The habit of making “Director’s
Cuts” out of top-selling comics is of itself a bit ridiculous. Take the
original comic, add some text from online interviews and toss in bits of a
script, some concept sketches and charge an extra buck for it. That said, we
went out and bought this one at one of our local stores. Why? Well, first, it’s
pretty hard to get much cooler than the first two issues of this series.
Creators Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung have done an outstanding job, creating a
serious page turner. Second, plenty of people missed out on this. This is a
great chance for them to get in on it. Third, even though the interview is
short, it’s pretty cool, and Cheung’s concept art is very cool (it would have
been better larger). If you got it the first time there’s no overwhelming need
for you to get this version, but if you missed it get in line and get
one.
