X-Men: The Last Stand is just around the corner, and with
anticipation pretty high for this supposed last installment in the current
trilogy, hints are swimming around the web about the planned Wolverine spinoff
film, wherein Hugh Jackman will reprise his popular role.

This week,
Jackman and Fox Film Group president Tom Rothman confirmed that the Wolvie film
will be a prequel. Though no further information has been released, we can’t
help but wonder if that means that the film will contain an origin story–and
become the first of another long-running franchise.
