“One of the most unique and charming lots we’ve offered, this massive collection of original art is culled from the warehouses of Whitman Publishing, the number one publisher of children’s books, toys, and memorabilia from much of the 1950s through the 1970s,” said Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments for ComicConnect.

Armed with licenses from practically every major comic publisher, animation house, and movie and TV studio, Whitman produced a staggering number of puzzles, posters, toys, tie-ins, and coloring books based on the major children’s properties of the day. From DC to Marvel Comics, Hanna-Barbera to Looney Tunes, TV and movies, nearly everything is represented in this collection.

“This initial offering showcases original art from frame tray puzzles to coloring books, and features some of pop culture’s most famous stars, including the Amazing Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Little Lulu, the Pink Panther, Daffy Duck, and even Star Trek,” Reynolds said. “From this time period, it’s impossible to find original comic book cover art for this value and these are full-color published paintings ready for framing.”

The auction is online and ends September 23, 2013 at 7 PM EDT.
