A film adaption of The Untamed: A Sinner’s Prayer fantasy graphic novel is in the works via Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions. The Untamed fantasy franchise creator Sebastian A. Jones will outline the script and direct the adaptation, and JuVee will work with Simon Swart and Andrew Cosby of Homeworld Entertainment on the adaptation.

The Untamed is set in the fantasy world Asunda where the Stranger has just returned to the town of Oasis to collect the seven souls of the people responsible for his wife and child’s murder. The unholy deal he made takes a turn when the Stranger meets a young orphan named Niobe, and his revenge mission could pivot into a journey of redemption. It is published by Jones’ Stranger Comics.

The first graphic novel grew into multiple limited series and expanded the world of Asunda with Niobe graphic novels about the child of prophecy, Dusu: Path of the Ancient about a man who is not entirely human and was raised by wild elves in the heart of a jungle, and Erathune follows a man with a cursed axe who must choose between freeing himself from the weapon or saving the town that shunned him.

“My goal has always been to create a poetic and cinematic drama wrapped up in a badass vengeance tale with the world at stake. For the setting, imagine the mood of a spaghetti western or a Kurosawa epic set in a beautiful and dangerous fantasy landscape,” Jones said in a statement.

“When Sebastian shared this incredible narrative with us over ten years ago, we knew then that the inclusive fantasy world of Asunda would resonate with audiences on a global scale. We believe that everyone is ready for a hero like Niobe, a badass Black woman whom Sebastian has brilliantly crafted to storm the world,” Davis and Tennon said.
