Vampirella & Red Sonja Kick-Off Dynamite’s 80-Page Comic Line
Dynamite Entertainment will start 2027 with a new line of 80-page giant comics. Vampirella and Red Sonja, two of their biggest stars, will begin the program in the new year.
Red Sonja’s first 80-page giant will contain four stories. They include “Dragons” from Red Sonja Annual #1 by writer Christos Gage and artist Pablo Marcos, and “Seeing Red” from Red Sonja: Black, White and Red #1 by writer Kurt Busiek and artist Benjamin Dewey. Ron Marz and Lee Moder’s tale from Red Sonja #30, and Eric Trautmann and Patrick Berkenkotter’s story from Red Sonja #60. Both come from the She-Devil with a Sword’s original Dynamite series.
The Vampirella 80-Page Giant is filled with stories that go back to the 1970s. “Death’s Dark Angel” from Vampirella #12 (1971) is by Archie Goodwin and José González, a team who defined her early stories. Important moments continue with “The New European” by Alan Moore and Gary Frank that marked the 100th anniversary of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It is followed by the debut issue stories from the 2014 series by Nancy Collins and Patrick Berkenkotter, and the 2017 series by Christopher Priest and Ergün Gündüz.
Both books are offered with two covers by Roberto Castro. One is in a retro style with inset snapshots from the stories inside, and the other features the singular cover image of the protagonist.
