DNAgents co-creator Mark Evanier and Nexus co-creator Steve Rude, who also worked together on a Space Ghost one-shot for Comico and a Mister Miracle one-shot for DC, teamed with New Teen Titans writer Marv Wolfman to make their contributions to the long comic book history of unofficial crossovers.

In the pages of Tales of the Teen Titans #48, Wolfman and Rude introduced “RECOMbatants,” characters that were clearly modeled on the DNAgents. For his part, Meugniot transformed the members of the Titans into the pastiche super-team codenamed “Project Youngblood” in DNAgents #14.

“Marv Wolfman, who of course was writing the Titans, is one of my best buddies. We got talking one day –I forget if it was his idea or mine – and it sounded like too much fun to pass up. So, we just coordinated and did our issues at the same time,” Evanier said.

Rude also contributed a back-up story in Surge #4.
