Everything that Adam feared is coming true. He turned himself in for killing everyone at the party, and then his father, Henry, made the situation so much worse. Henry threw a temper tantrum and tore Adam's mother's necklace off him. Without the necklace, which was a talisman that kept the wolf inside Adam at bay, he transformed into the wolf man.  

Adam tore through several police officers before fleeing the building. Detective Coates forced Henry to help find Adam, hoping to stop him from killing anyone else. Along the way, Coates learned what really happened to Adam's mother and how far Henry would go to have his way.  

Blood of the Wolf Man is one of my favorite entries in Image/Skybound's Universal Monsters line. In this series, writer Joshua Williamson took the core theme of the 1941 movie into a modern setting. Like Larry Talbot in that movie, young Adam is frightened by what he has become and what terrible things he has done. Artist Leomacs and colorist Pip Martin bring Adam's torment to life with painful clarity.  

This story features another villain in Adam's controlling, demanding, hot-tempered father, Henry. The man is incredibly unlikeable as he constantly tries to force his will on Adam, screaming in the young man's face and barking orders at everyone around him. This adds to Adam's status as a tragic figure, because he's not only a gentle young man afflicted by a curse, he's also been bullied and abused by his father.  

Some of the Universal Monster movies explore the ways in which regular humans can be more monstrous than the actual monsters. The creative team on Blood of the Wolf Man embraced that concept. The book has complicated relationships, family mysteries, and scary action in a good story for fans of classic horror.
