The Umbrella Academy is returning soon, heralding the introduction of the Sparrows! During SXSW, Netflix announced that the series will return for its third season on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. The news was accompanied by a short teaser trailer and two images for the upcoming season.

“After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them,” The Umbrella Academy season three description reads.

“Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) – now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong,” the description continues. “Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?”

The teaser trailer and new images preview the conflict between the Umbrella and Sparrow Academies. The Sparrows will include the formerly dead Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min) alive as No. 2 instead of No. 6. His six siblings include Marcus/Sparrow No. 1 (Justin Cornwell), Fei/No. 3 (Britne Oldford), Alphonso/No. 4 (Jake Epstein), Sloane/No. 5 (Genesis Rodriguez), Jayme/No. 6 (Cazzie David), and Christopher/No. 7, the telekinetic cube.

The Umbrella Academy stars Tom Hopper, Elliot Page, Aidan Gallagher, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and David Castañeda.
