Two-Step #1

Warren Ellis, who seems to be writing all of
the books the way that Brian Michael Bendis, Geoff Johns and Jeph Loeb aren’t
writing, is back with another twisted tale. Where else are you going to find
references to gangs practicing “Street Bollywood” (Indian cinema,
for those who asking)? And that’s literally just the beginning. At any rate,
wonderfully illustrated by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, Two-Step is
a sure bet for Warren’s many fans. Not for younger readers.

Fantagraphics; $6.95

The Comics Journal takes a good look at
two of modern comics’ most challenging talents, Aaron McGruder and R. Sikoryak
McGruder’s The Boondocks is prominently featured, and the cover (shown
right) presents the main character, Huey, bickering with both Lucy of
Peanuts fame and Outcault’s Yellow Kid. This issue also features reviews
of Lone Wolf and Cub and several other recent releases. Thought-provoking
reading, as always.
