*Twinkle, Twinkle, Twink*
trailer, I’m going to have to say that my interest is a little more piqued about
the film. It’s actually an original (can you really say that about a remake?)
take on the whole remake idea, which makes the film more marketable in my book.
I might have to actually clench my teeth about going to see a Nicole Kidman film
and plunk down $8.50 for this one.
Actually, I think the premise shows more promise
than many of the movie remakes of old TV series, in that it pays tribute to the
series rather than acting as though it never existed. It allows them to have
fun with the original series, using clips from it, quotes from it, etc. while at
the same time allowing for easy divergence from the scenario as established by
the TV show. If someone criticizes saying, “That’s not how Elizabeth Montgomery
played the character!” they can simply reply, “This isn’t Elizabeth Montgomery’s
character, is it?”
Nicole Kidman won’t have to try and be Elizabeth
Montgomery; in fact, the movie characters can be shown enjoying the performances
of the original cast without risking “fourth wall” cries. My guess is the late
Ms. Montgomery would be pleased with that.
