TBS has picked up Transporter: The Series, which stars Chris Vance in the role originally played by Jason Statham in the film series (we loved the first one and pretend the second one, perhaps the worst movie we’ve ever paid to see, doesn’t exist).

It’s a concept that should lend itself well to episodic television.

Created by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, the property tells the story of Frank Martin, a former special forces operative and professional no-questions-asked courier. Martin always seems to get the job done even in impossible circumstances, usually by violating the three rules he professes by which he professes to live.

Lots of things can be expected to explode on this show.

While it’s new to the U.S., it’s already been seen by many audiences around the world.

Twelve episodes were ordered for 2012 with an overall budget of $40,000,000, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show premiered October 11, 2012 in Germany on RTL, on December 6 in France on M6, on January 4, 2013 in Canada on HBO Canada and Super Écran 1, and on January 25 in India on the Sony PIX channel.
