Todd Hignite Comic Art, offering direct original art sales, has officially launched. This exclusive source of key artwork features selections from cartoonists Daniel Clowes, Julie Doucet, Jaime Hernandez, and Adrian Tomine. In addition to original art for sale, updated regularly, the website will also provide news regarding upcoming projects, exhibitions, and publications of note by the artists, as well as newly commissioned essays and features.

Between 2008 and 2017, Todd Hignite was a Vice President at Heritage Auctions. During that time, he personally managed important comic and illustration art consignments, including the world record results for original American comic art, and significant single-owner sales as The Eric Sack Collection: Masterpieces of Underground Art. He also curated a number of commercial gallery and museum exhibitions devoted to comic art, most notably the retrospective R. Crumb’s Underground. This exhibition originated at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, and toured the U.S.

Hignite also served as the founding editor of Comic Art magazine and is author of the books The Art of Jaime Hernandez/The Secrets of Life and Death and In the Studio: Visits with Contemporary Cartoonists. Interestingly enough, his first publication on comics was a 1991 fanzine interview with Clowes.

For the launch, Clowes is represented by originals from the last two decades as well as brand new artwork, including his contribution to Resist! Meanwhile Doucet’s work includes painted covers and rare complete stories from her comic Dirty Plotte. Hernandez is represented by new work such as covers for the recent Love and Rockets relaunch, while Tomine’s work includes artwork from his recent book, Killing and Dying.
