TMNT #1, Venom Art in Heritage Weekly
The next set of Heritage weekly auctions are highlighted by a second printing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, Mark Bagley and Andy Owens’ Venom art, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker sealed GameCube game. The Comic Books Select Auction ends on Sunday and Monday, October 9-10, 2022, the Video Games Mini-Boss Auction closes Tuesday, October 11, and the Comic Art & Animation Auction ends on Wednesday, October 12.
The comic auction is led by Amazing Spider-Man #17 CGC 9.0 with the second appearance of the Green Goblin and a crossover with the Human Torch. Steve Ditko provided the cover and art for the issue.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (second printing) CGC 8.5 was from a print run of just 15,000 copies. This 1980s key introduces Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Splinter, and Shredder with a wraparound cover by co-creator Kevin Eastman.
In the original art auction, Heritage is offering Tom Vincent’s Silver Surfer #71 story page production color guides (group of seven). These printer’s reference color guides were produced by photocopying the M.C. Wyman/Tom Christopher linework on paper then colored with watercolors.
They are also selling Mark Bagley and Andy Owens’ Venom #21 story page 16 original art of Eddie Brock journeying to the Island of Bones to confront Carnage. The art with an image area of 9-1/4” x 14-1/2” is done in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board.
The video game auction features the highest rated copy of College Football USA 97: The Road to New Orleans WATA 9.8 A sealed for Sega Genesis. It is one of just four graded by Wata and it is the first time that Heritage has offered the game.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker WATA 8.5 A sealed (made in USA) for GameCube is the fourth best selling title for the console. This is the first Zelda series created for the GameCube, which was directed by Eiji Aonuma and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka.
