Roulette is the codename passed down between three DC supervillains who also happened to be family members. The best known version is Victoria Sinclair, who was created by Geoff Johns and Derec Aucoin 25 years ago in JSA Secret Files #2 (September 2001).

Victoria owns meta-human fight clubs where superpowered people fight for entertainment. Some of the heroes who have died while fighting in her ring include the third Firebrand, the first Maxi-Man, FlyBoy, Pterodon, Behemoth, Gorgon, Prometheus of The Hybrid, and Ram of the New Guardians. The savagery extends to how she decorates with images of the fallen fighters on the wall of her arena.

Victoria’s grandmother, Debra Sinclair, was the original Roulette who ran a traditional casino and came up against the original Mister Terrific, Terry Sloane. Victoria believed that Sloane was her grandfather, though in reality, it was his brother Ned. Because she felt affection for Sloane, Victoria considered Michael Holt, the second Mister Terrific, to be unworthy.

The confident schemer met the Justice Society of America while running her arena known as the House. She caught the JSA and forced them to fight one another, but the heroes escaped their confinement. They were unable to catch Roulette, however, because the crafty villain teleported them away.

During the One Year Later event, Doctor Mid-Nite got into Roulette’s fight club because he heard that her organization was trafficking organs. Roulette had been working with Delores Winters, providing the latter with the bodies of those who lost fights. Winters took body parts from the dead fighters and implanted them into her clients. She agreed to answer his questions if he could beat her bodyguard at arm wrestling. He won the competition, so Roulette told him about a model who had wings surgically implanted, then she warned Delores that he was investigating them.

Later Roulette played a card game with Amos Fortune in which they bet on who would win in fights between members of the Justice League and the Royal Flush Gang. It was soon revealed that Roulette was using the game to learn more about the JLA, the Royal Flush Gang, and Fortune himself.

The New 52 reboot introduced Veronica Sinclair who was Victoria’s mother and Debra’s daughter. Veronica aspired to be the greatest thief of all time, so she organized a competition with Catwoman, Mirror Master, Vice, and Swindle. But, Veronica cheated by using Swindle and Vice to stop the other two. When Catwoman and Mirror Master learned the truth and defeated Veronica, she begrudgingly admitted that Catwoman was the greatest thief.
