More and more often Hollywood stars are doing their part to help their community, and the world. Some work for peace between nations, some fight for the American way of life, others raise awareness about the need to take better care of the Earth. It was announced this week, that Heath Ledger’s somewhat co-stars from the film he was working on at the time of his death are making a grand contribution to his daughter.

Heath Ledger was in the midst of filming Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus when he died last January. Rather than scrap the footage already shot with Ledger, the film’s production team decided to include it, and use other actors to continue the portrayal of Ledger’s character Tony. According to the film team, the imaginative fantasy story can continue episodically with different actors. Filling Tony’s shoes with Ledger are Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law.

Recently it was released that Ledger’s will had not been updated to include his young daughter. After discovering this, Depp, Farrell, and Law decided to generously donate all of their earnings from the film to little Matilda. All fathers themselves, Depp, Farrell, and Law are economically helping the little girl who just lost her daddy.

Gilliam commented on their gift to Matilda saying, “That’s extraordinary. And wonderful and when you’re part of that, you think, ‘Ah, this is maybe why I went into the movies in the beginning. I thought it would be full of wonderful people.’ And we’ve got a movie full of wonderful people who did extraordinary things to help.” About Ledger’s performance in The Imaginarium, Gilliam said, “It’s the last chance to see Heath and he’s brilliant.”
