The Event Horizon comic series written by Christian Ward is traveling from Hell to Heaven – but it’s not a paradise. The comic trilogy written by Christian Ward started with a prequel and is in the midst of a sequel that leads to Event Horizon: Pandemonium. Its third arc from IDW will begin in December 2026.

Ward is joined by Hernán González (John Carpenter’s Tales for a Halloween Night) for Event Horizon: Pandemonium. It will expand on other dimensions, features familiar faces, and more nightmare twists.

The Event Horizon comics are based on the sci-fi horror film of the same name that was released in 1997. A rescue crew is sent far out into space to retrieve the Event Horizon ship that disappeared several years earlier while using an experimental method of travel. What the rescue crew soon learns is that the ship and its crew traveled to Hell.

Ward’s first comic arc, Event Horizon: Dark Descent, reveals what happened to the original crew – which was only shown through short video shots in the movie. The second arc, Event Horizon: Inferno, is set hundreds of years in the future when a man possessed by a demon sends a new crew to the ship to wake it up.

“It’s been such a huge honor to have been trusted with this beloved property that means so much to so many, myself included,” Ward said. “It’s no secret that when I was first invited by IDW editor Nicolas Niño to pitch what my take on Event Horizon would be, what I ended up proposing went far beyond the prequel Dark Descent. I pitched a trilogy that would take even wilder swings and make fans look at the 1997 film in a completely different way, and Pandemonium was always the end goal. Myself and the incredible artist Hernán González are taking you even deeper into the Chaos Realm. Event Horizon will never be the same very again. All roads have been leading us here… to Heaven!”
