The Sixth Gun: Battle for the Six #1
Oni; $5.99
After the Confederacy ended, agents of good and evil began a hunt for six occult objects with incredible power. The heroes won that battle, but it was just a setback for the villains, known as the Cabal, who want their power to begin an age of war and suffering. A group of Wild West heroes operate in the Crossroads, a mythical space that can connect throughout the world, to find the powerful Sixth Gun and stop the Cabal.
The entire first issue of The Sixth Gun is packed with necessary exposition and action. There are a lot of characters, some of which have supernatural abilities, and plenty of lore to set up. Writer Cullen Bunn does this succinctly setting up the premise without extraneous details and giving a glimpse into the personalities of the heroes. Artist Brian Hurtt gives each character a distinct look and colorist Bill Crabtree sets the mood whether its scenes of dark ritual, rainy Moscow streets, or dusty Old West towns. The new supernatural Western is off to a good start.
