Morpheus; the King of Dreams; The Sandman. He is known by many names, but by any name, he is still the master the realm of human dreams and nightmares.

Created by writer Neil Gaiman, in collaboration with artists Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg in 1989, The Sandman was the flagship character of DC Comics’ adult-oriented Vertigo imprint for all of his 75-issue run. The popular series transcended a storytelling medium normally considered the domain of adolescent males to appeal to a wide and eclectic range of readers not normally found reading comic books.

Winner of numerous awards during its run, The Sandman has permeated pop culture, with references in the songs of several contemporary musical artists, and with posters, comic books and t-shirts appearing in a number of movies and television shows. And one needs only flip through the pages of any random Sandman issue to recognize the character’s influence on the Goth subculture

Concurrent with the publication of the second of four volumes of “The Absolute Sandman” high-end hardcover compilation editions of the complete Sandman saga, DC Direct presents The Sandman Absolute Statue.

Designed by Sandman artist Mark Buckingham, and sculpted by Dave Cortez, The Sandman Absolute Statue is produced in a limited edition of 700.
