The Rampage of Stuart Clarke
Stuart Clarke, aka Rampage is a villain who has also been an ally of the Punisher. Jenny Blake Isabella, Don Heck, and John Tartag created him as a genius who uses an armored suit that gives him superstrength and protects him from harm.
Clarke was introduced 50 years ago in The Champions #5 (April 1976) when he developed an exoskeleton suit while he was working as an engineer. His company went bankrupt because of an economic recession, so he tried to rob a bank using the suit. He was stopped by the Champions and suffered an injury that resulted in him using a wheelchair. Wanting revenge, Stuart hypnotized Iceman, forced him into a Rampage suit and then made him attack Spider-Man and Angel.

He ended up homeless and his suits were stored and protected in a lab. Eventually, he unlocked the protocols on his Rampage suits and remotely controlled them to bust them out of the lab. Rampage and his friends started using the suits as the Recession Raiders and came up against Wonder Man and Beast.
Clarke was imprisoned until Lotus broke him out so that he would join his new armored team, Armed Response. They attacked Wonder Man and the Crazy-Eight, but were handily defeated. Rampage then tried to rebrand Armed Response as a security force in Los Angeles, but the Crazy-Eight outed them as villains to the media and the group was shut down.

Later, he worked for the Punisher by helping him to find high-tech villains. When Jigsaw and G.W. Bridge hunted for Punisher, Clarke went into hiding with Diamonelle, a woman that had been helping an injured Frank Castle. Spending time with the antihero inspired Clarke, so when S.H.I.E.L.D. caught Punisher, Rampage tried to save him. Before he could pull off a heroic moment, Diamonelle – who was actually a double agent – shot him repeatedly.
She also revealed that Punisher had killed his girlfriend, Tati, on an earlier mission. Somehow, Clarke survived and joined the Hood’s criminal enterprise. His first mission was to kill Punisher for Tati’s death, but they were attacked by Skrulls and Clarke was heavily scarred.
