Dynamite; $5.99

It’s summertime and all the residents of Townsville have flocked to the Townsville Fun World Amusement Park. It has intense rides like the Kabloominator, the Dragon Drop of Doom, and the Unhinged Unicorn, plus games, cotton candy, and all the other excitement that amusement parks have to offer.

The Powerpuff Girls and the professor head to the park for a day or rollercoasters and rollicking fun. What they didn’t expect is a park filled with supervillains. When they try to warn the mayor and other citizens, no one seems to care – leaving the pint sized heroes to save the day once more.

Powerpuff Girls Supervillain Summer Spectacular #1 has the charm and silliness necessary for a story about Buttercup, Bubbles, and Blossom. Written by James III, it puts the girls in the fun, high energy setting of an amusement park and adds loads of interactions with their gallery of villains. The conversations and ensuing violence are quite funny, especially when Bubbles loses her temper.

Artist Carlo Lauro and colorist Giulia Lafranceschina did a fine job of capturing the look of The Powerpuff Girls cartoon, not only in the characters, but the backgrounds as well. Between the extreme rides and fights with villains, the Powerpuff Girls have a wild outing at the Townsville Fun World Amusement Park.
