Who are the individuals who have made great contributions to the comic book arts? Who are the writers, artists, editors, publishers and others who have plied their craft in insightful ways? The Overstreet Hall of Fame, which spotlights many such creators and leading figures, is featured in The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comics.

George Pérez is arguably one of the greatest comic book artists to ever hold a pencil. He began his career working on a serialized action-adventure strip called Sons of the Tiger in Marvel’s Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu. From there, Pérez moved on to work on Marvel premiere superhero team, The Avengers (beginning with issue #141) and soon took over artistic duties on Marvel’s First Family, The Fantastic Four.

After tackling two of Marvel’s flagship books, Pérez jumped ship and moved over to work on Justice League of America at DC Comics. Soon after, he teamed up with writer Marv Wolfman to streamline the DC Universe in the epic maxi-series, Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985).

Pérez, at one time or another during his illustrious career has drawn every major character from both the Marvel and DC Universe, many of whom were featured in JLA/Avengers(2003), a crossover that was 20 years in the making

The most recent inductees into The Overstreet Hall of Fame are featured in The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #44, which is now on sale.

And if you’re in Baltimore over the September 5-7, 2014 weekend, he and numerous other members of The Overstreet Hall of Fame will be attending the Baltimore Comic-Con.
