The 27th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention, taking
place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, is the most
well-known convention for sports memorabilia in the United States. With more
than 700 dealer booths, sports celebrities and special programming spread
throughout the 400,000 square foot convention center, the weekend of July 26-30
is the place for sport collectors.
“We’re excited to get back to Anaheim; it’s been six years,” said Mike
Berkus, one of the co-directors of the convention, and one of the founders of
the event when it began in Los Angeles in 1980. “The array of things to see, to
purchase, and to reminisce over remains a lure for all our visitors, and the
Southern California area has always been one of the strongest
venues in the nation for this
convention.”
Among the expected sports celebrities, Magic Johnson, Pete Rose and Joe
Montana are all signing over the course of the weekend, while Steve Young, Bo
Jackson, Troy Aikman, Jerry Rice, Warren Moon, Lawrence Taylor, Barry Sanders,
Jim Kelly, Rod Carew, Willie McCovey, Andre Dawson, Dave Winfield, Sparky
Anderson, Don Newcombe and Gaylord Perry are also scheduled to make
appearances.
Geppi’s Memorabilia Road Show will also be on hand to exhibit.
The show’s hours are Wednesday (“Sneak Peek” night) from 5:00 to 9:00
PM, Thursday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:00
PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tickets for general admission to the
convention are $17.50 per day ($15 in advance) and Friday will be “Kids Free
Day,” with all kids 15 and under admitted free to the Convention Center. For
