The Mandalorian and Grogu Hunt Warlords in New Trailer
Sweet and comical father-son bonding moments, chase scenes, and lots of creatures fill the latest trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie takes place after the third season of The Mandalorian TV show, which is set about five years after the events in Return of the Jedi.
After the fall of the Empire, Imperial warlords escaped and traveled all over the galaxy. Now, the New Republic has hired the Mandalorian and Grogu to find them, hoping to stop any attempts to rebuild the Empire while establishing their new government.
The trailer begins on a sentimental note with John Williams’ Star Wars score playing in the background. It abruptly displays the humorous dynamic between the Mandalorian/Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, as the former scolds the latter for pushing random buttons on the ship’s console.
The pair are looking for Hutts, and taking on bounty hunter jobs for gangsters, war criminals, and any other bad guy that needs to be captured. They meet with Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver), who warns them that the mission is about preventing another war, not seeking revenge.
The Mandalorian shows off new weapons, gets unmasked by a Hutt, and Grogu dons adorable armor. We see Din in a gladiator style fight, Grogu appears to be having his own adventures, and Zeb Orrelios makes an appearance.
The Mandalorian TV show began when Din was hired to retrieve Grogu, who was sought by the Empire for his power with the Force. Instead of turning him over, the Mandalorian chose to protect the child, becoming a surrogate father for the very cute little guy. The trailer emphasizes their bond, the action, and the humor found in the series.
The movie is directed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, who is also producing with fellow Mandalorian architect Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ian Bryce. Steve Blum, who voiced Zeb Orrelios in the Star Wars: Rebels animated series, is back to play him in the movie, and Jeremy Allen White is voicing Rotta the Hutt.
The Mandalorian and Grogu flies into theaters on May 22, 2026.
