Joey, Matthew, and Andrew Lawrence, the multi-hyphenate brothers who act, sing, direct, and host The Brotherly Love podcast are adding a new line to their family résumé. They are now co-authoring their first graphic novel, The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency, which is currently seeking backers on Kickstarter.

“This darkly funny graphic novel reimagines them as reluctant heroes battling a conspiracy that’s warping the very fabric of fame. Set against the surreal backdrop of a corrupted Hollywood, The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency is a satirical fever dream about identity, memory, and the absurdity of pop culture,” per the description. “Think Scooby-Doo meets Barry meets Bojack Horseman. Except instead of searching for criminals they are searching for lost child stars… with cameos from some of your favorite actors from the ‘90s!”

The Z2 book will be co-written by the Berkowitz Brothers (who co-wrote The Writer with Josh Gad) and Brian Yuran with art by Sean Von Gorman. According to the Kickstarter campaign, the project has been in the works for years as the Lawrence Brothers considered putting their own twist on the Hardy Boys with a Hollywood setting.

You have never seen us like this before, and we cannot wait for you to join us on this epic quest to uncover some wild mysteries. We are beyond excited to join the Kickstarter community and get our fans involved,” Joey, Matthew, and Andrew Lawrence said.

The reward levels start at $20 for a PDF of the graphic novel and $35 for the standard edition. There’s a “Little Brother Edition” for $85 that includes a coffee table sized edition with a slipcase, a Detective Agency art print, PDF of the book, and three-card Lawrence Brothers collector card set. The “Whoa!” edition gets a signed copy of the book, the backer’s name in the book’s “Thank You” page, and everything in the “Little Brother Edition” level for $225.

Additional reward levels include a retailer bundle, the backer’s name personally inscribed in the book by the Lawrence Brothers, a cameo in the book, the chance to be the fourth Lawrence Brother, and a shoutout during their podcast. These levels start at $200 and go up to $5,000.

The Lawrence Brothers Detective Agency Kickstarter campaign is seeking to raise $50,000. It is open for backing through August 23, 2025.
