Firestorm has rearranged the matter of his comic series to beyond the eight-issue run. The Fury of Firestorm comic by Jeff Lemire and Rafael de Latorre has been extended to 15 issues.

This is the second time that the issue count was extended. The book was first announced as a six-issue title before growing to eight issues. DC announced that the DC Next Level series was getting an additional six issues as The Fury of Firestorm #6 arrived in comic shops.

The new series began with Firestorm manipulating matter in terrible ways, counter to his heroic ways. It is soon revealed that the Firestorm matrix has taken over and that Ronnie Raymond is buried deep inside. As the matrix explores his abilities with no regard to life, Ronnie is trapped inside reliving important moments from his early days as a hero. The government enlists Firehawk to help defeat the matrix and she in turn finds the other former half of Firestorm: Professor Martin Stein.

In the sixth issue, Firestorm has trapped Pittsburgh with plans to dismantle it one atom at a time. Firehawk tries to break through the matrix’s control to connect with Ronnie and free him from its control.

“The Fury of Firestorm has been one of those dream projects that just keeps giving,” Lemire said. “Much like the Firestorm matrix, the story has taken on a life of its own and just keeps expanding into new and unexpected directions.”

The book by Lemire, De Latorre, Marcelo Maiolo, and Lucas Gattoni will now continue into 2027.

“If you think the end of issue 6 was crazy, wait until you see what we do next,” Lemire added.
