In July we told you about the
upcoming second series of high profile advertising films from BMW available
through their site bmwfilms.
Now the teaser for the first one is up, and it looks great.
Set to
debut on October 24, Hostage
teams action director John Woo (Face/Off) with producers Ridley Scott
(Gladiator) and Tony Scott (Crimson Tide) and actor Clive Owen
(returning as “The Driver”) for the first installment of this new
series.
According to the site, the driver races to locate a kidnapped
victim locked in the trunk of an abandoned car somewhere on the water’s edge.
“Linked to her only by cell phone, the driver narrows in on her location
in a desperate race against time and tide,” the site said.
The
second new film, Ticker, scheduled for November 7, is directed by Joe
Carnahan and features Don Cheadle (Traffic), and F. Murray Abraham
(Finding Forrester) in addition to Owen.
The third mini-feature,
co-starring Gary Oldman, is Beat The Devil. Directed by Tony Scott, it’s
slated to show beginning on November 21.
The first
series of films, included works by John Frankenheimer (Ambush),
Ang Lee (Chosen), Wong Kar-Wai (The Follow), Guy Ritchie
(Star), and Alejandro González Iñárritu (Powder
Keg). You can still see them on line at the BMW site,
too.

It has recently been reported in The Hollywood Reporter that ABC is
interested in a T.V. series based on the DC superhero Starman. According to the
report, they have given a script commitment to the same company behind the WB’s
DC-based Smallville and Birds of Prey,
Tollin/Robbins Productions. Like the comic, Starman will center on the
adventures of a 25-year-old slacker who, when his brother (the original Starman)
is killed, must rise to the occasion and fill his shoes. Stay tuned for more!
