The Curator’s Column
ITEM #1: We’ll get back to all the “must-read” comic books etc. next time…again.
There’s so much coming up at GEM and I have to tell you about a few events and exhibits. First up: Jim Steranko – that’s right, the Jim Steranko – is coming to Geppi’s EntertainmentMuseum for a special exhibit and personal appearance. You can find out more about this incredible event in a special article on Scoop or via our museum website. The man is a living legend and you won’t want to miss Steranko Noir only here at GEM on March 26-28, 2010!
ITEM #2: It’s usually at the end of my column but soon it’ll be time for the next Special Edition exhibit, and the subject is America’s Favorite Teenager…Archie Andrews!
Archie Andrews, America’s Favorite Teenager (didn’t I just say that?) debuts at the museum soon (dates TBA) and brings all of Riverdale right here to GEM! Laugh at the antics of Archie Andrews, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and the gang through the years. See America’s favorite perpetual teenager become a cultural phenomenon as well as a comics, TV and radio star that even gets his own number one hit record! And with the recent special six-part comic tale that saw Archie marry both Veronica and Betty (trust me, it makes sense when you read it), our favorite jalopy-driving juvenile is more popular than ever. From toys and memorabilia to original art, it’s all about Archie!
ITEM #3: We all know there’s a new Alice in Wonderland film out there, and what better way to celebrate than with a very important date (don’t be late!) right here at GEM. The “Mad as a Hatter” Museum Party will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 11am-4pm. Geppi’s gets a Wonderland-themed makeover with crafts, prizes and much more. Admission will be $10 per adult, 1 free child per paying adult, and only $5 per additional child. And that’s not all – stay tuned to our website for info on a separately-ticketed Special Tea Party that same day at 3pm.
More to come!
Don’t forget to visit Geppi’s EntertainmentMuseum online at www.geppismuseum.com or in person at 301 W. Camden Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. Our phone is (410) 625-7060.
