The Boys doesn’t do anything halfway, so it’s only natural that the series finale would get a theatrical showing. But it’s not just a regular big screen event, The Boys is getting the 4DX treatment.

4DX is an immersive viewing experience that involves seats that move with the action on screen, making them vibrate, roll, tilt, and heave to mimic driving or flying. It also has environmental effects like strobing lights, wind, fog, scents related to what’s happening on screen (like the smell of coffee or gunpowder), and rain mist.

“In two weeks, we’re going out with a bang. Literally, because ya might vibrate watchin’ the series finale in 4DX,” per a post on the show’s X/Twitter account. “Get yer mitts on a seat with the purchase of a concession voucher, which is good towards sweets or soda the day of. See ya May 19 at 9:30 p.m.”

The reference to a “concession voucher” likely means that Prime and the theaters can’t charge tickets for viewings due to contracts for the people who made the shows. Instead, attendees buy a voucher for concessions that comes with a seat to see the episode.

Also of note, the series finale is streaming on Amazon Prime on May 20, meaning that the theatrical viewers will see the last episode before the home audience.

AMC, Regal, B&B, Cinema West, Cineplex, Cinepolis, and Marcus theaters will all show the episode.

Based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys debuted on Prime in 2019, quickly becoming one of the most popular superhero shows of all time. The series takes the approach that not all people with superpowers are going to be good guys, with some being downright horrible. On one side, you have the corrupt superpowered people, aka supes, and on the other is the group that wants to stop them, known as the Boys.

In the fifth and final season, the Boys leader Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his team are making their final play to stop Homelander (Antony Starr), who has risen to a dangerously high level of power. While Homelander seeks immortality, Butcher wants to use a virus that can kill supes to assassinate Homelander and end his reign.

The eight-episode final season also stars Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Chase Crawford, Tomer Capone, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, and Jensen Ackles.
