Terry Sharp Debuts Online, In Print
Living and The Dead, which has just been announced from Speakeasy
Comics. This week one of the creators of that new graphic novel launched a new
promotion for another new property with the horror movie site supreme, www.Fangoria.com.
Robert
Tinnell, movie writer-producer-director turned comic book writer, has teamed
with artist Adrian Salmon (Doctor Who) for the Flash-animated online
comic strip Shadowdance: A Terry Sharp Story, a complete story that
introduces the character also featured in this month’s Image Comics release,
The Faceless: A Terry Sharp Story (previewed in the June 3, 2005 Scoop.
The exclusive strip debuted on Monday, August 8, and will run for five
weeks. A new installment is available each weekday, and previous strips will
remain available on Fangoria’s site for the duration of the story. The
print incarnation of the magazine will feature a preview of The Faceless
in Fangoria #246, on sale August 16.
The match between the
premiere horror movie magazine and Terry Sharp is not a coincidence. Sharp is a
horror director by day, but at night he battles the forces of evil and
investigates strange goings-on. Working at Midwich Studios in London in 1962, he
stumbles across a very real occult conspiracy and battles evil tirelessly. The
story is packed with sly visuals and other references that will please fans of
Hammer Films, cool British television, swinging London and darkly comic
horror.
“Terry Sharp is a really cool character,”
Fangoria editor Tony Timpone said in a press release. “For fans of
old-fashioned horror, mystery and two-fisted action thrills, this new series is
a must. I can’t wait to see what Robert Tinnell and company come up with for
this exclusive, daily website strip.”
“We’ve been really
happy with the reaction of the online community to Terry Sharp thus far,”
Tinnell told Scoop. “The feedback from everyone who saw the
trailer, the free preview pages on www.terrysharp.net, and the
interviews on Scoop and other sites has just been incredible. Now we’re
matched up with Fangoria, which in horror fandom speaks for itself.
Combine that with the impending release of The Faceless from Image Comics
and it’s instantly an exciting time for us.”
