The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took the top spot over the August 8-10, 2014 weekend with a domestic box office tally of $65.5, which was more than enough to give them first place over the still-strong Guardians of the Galaxy’s $42.1 million.

Through August 12, TMNT had earned more than $79.8 million and another $28.7 million internationally in limited release, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

The Expendables 3 could compete for a similar audience with the two pictures over the August 15-17 weekend, and then Sin City: A Dame To Kill For opens August 22.
