Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live-Action Movie Set for 2028
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are heading back to theaters. Paramount has announced a new untitled Turtles movie that is currently scheduled for release on November 17, 2028.
The movie will be a live-action/CG animation hybrid starring Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. The movie will presumably also star series mainstays like Splinter, April O’Neil, and Shredder. Neal H. Moritz, the producer who handled the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy, is behind the new Turtles movie. Little else is currently known about the project.
It only took a few years after Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird introduced the Ninja Turtles in comics in 1984 to debut on film. They first made the jump to the big screen in 1990’s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, followed by sequels in ’91 and ’93.

The animated TMNT came out in 2007, then the live-action/CG hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows were released in ’14 and ’16. The most recent animated film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came out in ’23 and a sequel is scheduled for September 17, 2027
Paramount also announced an untitled “Sonic Universe Event Film” that is set for release on December 22, 2028. It is a separate project from Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is headed to theaters on March 19, 2027.
