The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are climbing out of the sewers and heading to the stage. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live on Stage! is a theatrical production that will begin in the fall of 2027, in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original animated series.

The stage show will begin with their origins in comics as one of the most popular titles of the black and white indie comics trend. Then it will track the Heroes in a Half Shell as Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael become icons of pop culture. A high energy production for all-ages, it will feature martial arts choreography, parkour, and dance battles, plus projection technology.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live on Stage! is being created by Paramount Products & Experiences and Maximum Entertainment. It will be developed by Tony winning producer Eva Price (Liberation), Tony nominated director-choreographer Jennifer Weber (KPOP), and Emmy winning playwriter-screenwriter Qui Nguyen (Peg + Cat).

“We’re thrilled to reimagine TMNT for the stage through a one of a kind live experience that brings together an exceptional team of creative talent,” said Josh Silverman, President of Global Products & Experiences for Paramount. “The caliber of award-winning artists behind this production speaks to the enduring power of the franchise and its impact across generations. Together, we’re bringing the Turtles to an exciting new storytelling platform while staying true to the energy, humor, and heart fans have loved for more than four decades.”

TMNT has always been about energy, rebellion, brotherhood, and fun,” Price said. “This production takes everything audiences love about the original animated series and transforms it into a thrilling live show. Whether you grew up with the Turtles in the ’80s and ’90s or discovered them in the 21st century, this show is designed to bring fans together.”

The heroic Turtles were introduced in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (May 1984) by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The first series inspired a slate of other indie comics about anthropomorphic heroes and black and white books. The original animated series debuted in December 1987, which was joined by a popular toy line, then the first live-action movie followed three years later in 1990. Many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics have followed, as well as more animated and live-action TV shows and films.
