Some lucky bidder was probably yelling cowabunga as this auction closed. A
CGC certified 9.4 copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 sold for
$2,260.60. According to the CGC Census the copy sold is currently tied with 3
other copies as the second highest certified example. Not only is this landmark
issue the first issue of their own comic, but it also features the first
appearance of those heroes in a half shell. Prior to Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles #1 the turtles can be found the back covers of Gobbledygook
#1 and 2 that features a house ad for the first issue.
