Taika Waititi to Direct, Co-Write Star Wars Movie
On May 4, 2020, aka Star Wars Day, it was revealed that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is heading back to the galaxy far, far away. Lucasfilm announced that Waititi will direct and co-write a new Star Wars film.
Waititi already had Star Wars credits to his name, having directed the first season finale for The Mandalorian. He also voiced IG-11 on the series.
Very little information was given at this point.
Lucasfilm also confirmed that Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is developing a Star Wars series for Disney+. The title was not announced, though it is reportedly the network’s first show with a female lead.
May the Fourth also saw the additions of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series finale and Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian docuseries on Disney+.
