The Supergirl teaser trailer has arrived, showing how Kara Zor-El is coping with the loss of Krypton, and how her lifestyle differs significantly from her cousin, Kal-El.

The movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, following her cameo introduction in 2025’s Superman. It’s based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which Supergirl and a young alien named Knolle travel throughout the galaxy to find Krem of the Yellow Hill, who killed Knolle’s father.

The trailer clearly indicates how this film will differ from Superman’s more dramatic, though uplifting tone, through the humor and Supergirl’s general attitude. Kara is not a do-gooder hero like her cousin and doesn’t share his eternal optimism. At one point in the trailer, she is heard in voiceover stating that, “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth.”

This is the second feature film in the new DC continuity since James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-heads of DC Studios. Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and written by Ana Nogueira.

Alcock is joined by Jason Momoa as Lobo, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Eyes, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.

Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
