Super Mario Bros. Trailer Goes Deep into Game Land
Mario, Princess Peach, and Toad are ready for adventure in the new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Earlier footage introduced Mario and his very scary nemesis, Bowser, and now audiences get to see more of the beloved video game franchise characters and their world.
The trailer opens with Mario about to fight Donkey Kong in a stadium battle – which doesn’t go well for the plucky little hero. Then we see the mighty Bowser who is holding Luigi hostage because he believes that the only thing stopping him from ruling the world is Mario.
Princess Peach marshals the troops to fight Bowser, leading into multiple teasers of the game elements that Mario must traverse on his quest. There are falling bridges, flying fish, Mario in his Tanooki costume, the flower power, and even a little Mario Kart.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie features the voice talents of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, and Charles Martinet – who voiced Mario and Luigi for the video games – will voice various characters. It is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the team behind Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.
The movie arrives in theaters on April 7, 2023.
