This is one of those creations that just makes you glad you’re into comics. In the hands of a lesser storyteller, the wonderful sentiment in Owly might devolve into sentimentality, but Runton is no lesser storyteller. The storytelling is done without words. It’s straight forward, deceptively simple, and compelling to adults and children alike.

While the volume depicted here is the first in the series, you can’t miss with any of them and you don’t need to start with a particular one.
