The semi-annual Games Done Quick event has kicked off their summer edition, appropriately titled Summer Games Done Quick, which runs from July 2-9, 2017. The event aims to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders by marathoning speedruns of various video games.

Speedrunning is the act of finishing a video game as quickly as possible; there are categories in most games that include “Any %” and “100%” runs, and many speedrunners have set world record times at Games Done Quick events in the past. Games in this year’s marathon include Ape Escape, Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver, Kirby: Planet Robobot, Portal, and many others. A full schedule can be found online.

Last year’s SGDQ raised $1.3 million for Doctors Without Borders; this year’s winter event, Awesome Games Done Quick, raised $2.2 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This year’s marathon can be streamed online via Twitch.
