Sega’s Streets of Rage series is making a comeback with a brand-new game, after nearly 25 years with no new releases in the beat-em-up franchise. Streets of Rage 4 is in development from the team of Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games, according to the publisher, DotEmu.

A trailer highlighting the return of protagonists Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding was released alongside the announcement, which can be seen below. No release date was provided, and there was no confirmation regarding what platforms the game will be released for.

The Streets of Rage series began in 1991 and proved to be one of Sega’s most popular of the decade, going on to receive a comic adaptation and even a novella in addition to multiple, highly-praised soundtrack album releases. However, though some characters cameoed in other games, the last release in the series was 1994’s Streets of Rage 3.
