Stargate Opens On Sci-Fi

have found their worries about the show’s move from Showtime to Sci Fi Channel
have been for naught. Many among the show’s loyal following had expressed
misgivings at the departure of scientist Daniel Jackson (one of the four main
characters, played by Michael Shanks) and the move to Sci Fi, which has
occasionally been regarded as a home for less-than-stellar production
values.
Having just kicked off their sixth season, the SG-1 team (Richard
Dean Anderson as Colonel Jack O’Neill, Amanda Tapping as Major Samantha Carter,
Christopher Judge as Teal’c, and newcomer Corin Nemec as Jonas Quinn) seems to
be flourishing in their new home. Serving as a 9:00 PM ET lead-in to Sci Fi’s
one certified hit, Farscape, fans discussing the show on-line have noted
the continuation of the tight continuity, solid writing and good production
standards.
While fiercely loyal, many of the shows fans have not
responded kindly to licensed products that don’t emulate the show’s impeccable
efforts in continuity. Such was the case with the Stargate SG-1 novels by
Ashley McConnell. (If you enjoy the show, you might want to check out the
reviews on Amazon.com for some of the harshest criticisms we’ve ever
read.)
