Star Wars Rarities, Key Pieces Abound in Hake’s Auction
The Rebels and the Empire are duking it out in another Hake’s premier auction. The Star Wars section of Hake’s premier Auction #245 is once again filled with early releases, prototypes, rare figures, and more.

The Jawa 12-back-A vinyl cape variety is one of the most diminutive figures in Star Wars, and also among the most valuable. This rare piece was part of the earliest wave of figures and features the original vinyl cape (later releases came with a cloth cape).
The auction includes prototypes like the Power of the Force Luke Skywalker (Imperial Stormtrooper) first shot/photo sample action figure AFA 75. The first shot Kenner figure (light brown hair variety) with a prototype rubber Stormtrooper helmet was used for photography purposes. This very rare first shot/photo sample combo is the most sought after first shot from the Power of the Force line and is the only AFA-graded example.

The Early Bird Mail-Away Kit comes with Luke Skywalker (double-telescoping), Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and R2-D2 AFA 80. The kit includes the original white mailer box, vacuform plastic tray with sealed baggie set of figures, baggie with plastic pegs for posing the figures, mini-catalog advertising the figures, and mail-away offer for the Early Bird Premium Collector Stand. Kenner used the mail-away promotional offer to get Star Wars action figures to consumers before they hit store shelves because they unable to get the figures to market in time for the 1977 holiday season.
Hake’s is offering a multitude of desirable action figures like the Hong Kong Darth Vader (double-telescoping saber) loose action figure AFA 80 and Luke Skywalker 12-back-C AFA 80 (double-telescoping saber) on an unpunched card. The Glasslite Star Wars: Droids Vlix AFA 50 was only released in Brazil due to the cancellation of the animated series, making it the rarest of the commercially released figures.

Top tier playsets and vehicles are also among the featured Star Wars lots in the auction. The Cantina Adventure Set AFA 80 (Sears exclusive) contains bagged blue Snaggletooth, Greedo, Hammerhead, and Walrus Man, plus mailer boxes for the figures, sealed bag pegs, cardboard backdrop, and more. The Millennium Falcon AFA 75 is a rare factory sealed example of Han’s ship.
There are display pieces like the 12-back bin with header card and tray insert AFA 80 and “Get a Free Boba Fett Action Figure” 20-back display header AFA 75.
Action figure highlights continue with a Boba Fett 21-back-B AFA 80, Power of the Force Yoda 92-back AFA 80, AT-AT Driver 92-back AFA 75, Star Wars: Droids Boba Fett AFA 75, and Empire Strikes Back Princess Leia Organa 45-back proof card AFA 90.

The vehicles and playsets also include the Droid Factory AFA 80+, radio controlled Jawa Sandcrawler AFA 80, sonic controlled Land Speeder AFA 80, and X-Wing Fighter AFA 80.
Bidding on the Star Wars figures and the rest of Hake’s Auction #245 is open at hakes.com now through Tuesday and Wednesday, November 18-19, 2025.
