While MyComicShop is known for their comic and original art offerings, their consignors often have other pop culture collectibles that appeal to comic collectors. In that vein, MyComicShop is selling Star Wars handbills from 1977 advertising the movie’s May 25 release date.

Handbills were produced to promote the fact that the movie had moved up its release date from its original summer date. Some were created with the theater locations included and others featured a blank spot at the bottom for theaters to fill in that information. The handbills with theater details printed on them are considered the rarer of the two types.

The Star Wars handbills at MyComicShop come from a longtime consignor who was involved in the promotion of the premiere at the Charles Cinema in Boston. The handbills have remained in his collection since that period.
