Star Wars Drops First Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer
Star Wars has released the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the franchise’s next Disney+ series. Ewan McGregor is back as the Jedi who saw the tragic destruction of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire, and the fall of his protégé/surrogate brother Anakin Skywalker. Now, he’s living on Tatooine with a new mission to protect young Luke Skywalker.
Obi-Wan is trying to live a quiet life watching over Luke, but the Empire is still hunting the remaining Jedi. The trailer shows the Grand Inquisitor (first introduced in Star Wars Rebels) and Force sensitive Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram), who are causing fear in the streets of Tatooine. Joel Edgerton returns as Luke Skywalker’s Uncle Owen (a role he originated 20 years ago in 2002’s Attack of the Clones).
One character’s reemergence is clearly missing from the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hayden Christensen is making his long-awaited return to Star Wars as Anakin, the former Jedi in training who became Darth Vader.
The cast also includes Bonnie Piesse (back as Beru Lars), Rupert Friend, Kumail Nanjiani, Simone Kessell, Maya Erskine, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Sung Kang.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will start streaming on Disney+ on May 25, 2022 – the 45th anniversary of A New Hope’s original release in 1977.
