Vanguard recently announced that their new art book Paintings of J. Allen St. John-Grand Master of Fantasy instantly sold out in both the regular hard cover and deluxe editions. Reviewers have called the full color, 160-page book everything that fans of St. John and Burroughs have been waiting for. Measuring 9 x 12”, it includes classic and rare images, along with some previously unpublished work. The book boasts revealing essays by Lin Carter, Danton Burroughs, Frank Frazetta, and the late great sci-fi author Jack Williamson.

Though the hard cover and deluxe editions are sold out, co-author J. David Spurlock said, “Soft covers are available but, Vanguard has no more hard covers. If you hurry, you might find one of these rare collectibles in a comic shop.”

Vanguard has also shared details about their not-yet-released ultra edition, consisting of only 300 copies that will be distributed by Diamond into comic shops. Ultra will include endpapers, a 16-page bonus folio, and a slipcase. It will be bound in genuine leather with gold guilt pages, and a bonus plate featuring a previously unpublished Tarzan painting. Ultra has even more to offer, coming signed by authors Stephen Korshak, J. David Spurlock, and contributors Jack Williamson, Danton Burroughs, Robert Barrett, and Vincent DiFate! They are the last items signed by Williamson and Burroughs, prior to their passing.

The leather bound ultra edition will be sold through comic book stores via Diamond Distributors and will be listed in the October Previews catalog for shipping in December.
