The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opened strong over the May 2-4, 2014 weekend, taking first place at the box office with a tally of more than $91 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

The film, which has worldwide ticket sales of more than $384 million as of this posting, was followed by The Other Woman ($14.4 million), Heaven is for Real ($8.6 million) Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($7.7 million) and Rio 2 ($7.7 million), to round out the top five spots.

Godzilla and X-Men: Days of Future Past are waiting in the wings.
