News is circulating that Marvin Jones III will play crime boss Tombstone in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The news was reported by Deadline, however, Sony and Marvel have not confirmed the casting announcement.

Tombstone, aka Lonnie Lincoln is a brutal crime boss in New York who is easily recognizable for being a large albino man with sharply filed teeth. A regular nemesis of Spider-Man and Daredevil, he was created by Gerry Conway and Alex Saviuk, who introduced him in Web of Spider-Man #36 (March 1988).

Jones is familiar with Tombstone, having voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and he is set to voice him again for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. He is best known for playing Tobias Whale, another crime boss, in the Black Lightning TV show that ran from 2018 to 2021. Jones has also appeared in Collateral, Django Unchained, Halo, The Equalizer, and Shadow Force.

Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are reprising M.J. and Ned, respectively. Mark Ruffalo is set to return as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Jon Bernthal is bringing Frank Castle/Punisher to the franchise. Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas are starring in the movie, though their roles have not been announced.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Dretton is helming the film. It is the fourth film in the Holland-led Spidey series, following the game-changing Spider-Man: No Way Home in which Peter Parker was erased from the memories of everyone who knows him.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be in theaters on July 31, 2026.
