If your Spidey Sense is tingling, perhaps it is because of the surplus of Spider-Man collectibles in Geppi’s Entertainment’s current Hake’s Americana auction. To wrap a web around these collectibles you have to act fast as auction #195 started closing Tuesday, September 2, 2008, and will continue to close until September 4, 2008!
If you are looking to hop your way to fun try The Amazing Spider-Man bouncing ball toy! With the original 1981 box, the child’s bouncing ball inflates to over 40” in circumference and offers a figural Spider-Man head as handles. Another fun activity is playing darts with a Spider-Man target set and dart game. The “Big City Target Set” by Funstuf Inc. is set #5016 and features a die-cut building with three pull-down targets of Spider-Man/Marvel villains.
Geeky gadgets get you excited? The Amazing Spider-Man talking motorized vehicle produced by Nasta on behalf of the Marvel Comics Group in 1978 is in its original box. This uniquely designed spider coupe sports two Spider-Man sticker decals and when pulled back and released the car moves and “talks!” Included in its six phrases are “You can’t escape from me,” “I always catch my man,” and “You can’t escape the web.” If cars don’t get you revved up, perhaps The Amazing Spider-Man communications and code set will spark interest. Created in 1978, it includes a “Code Flasher, Sun Code Reflector,” simulated wrist radio, vinyl belt carrying case and pair of cardboard code wheels with instruction card!
Also on the block is The Amazing Spider-Man web shoot toy and display sign created by Funstuf, Inc. in 1975. From the James Gallo Collection, the 5.75 X 8" un-punched blister card contains a suction cup launcher with string. Another item on display is The Amazing Spider-Man Rockomic Record display with 33-1/3 rpm record on the Buddah Records label featuring Romita Spider-Man.
Get ready to reach for the sky with the Spider-Man gun lot consisting of five carded plastic guns, four of which are by Gordy International, Inc. The “Spider-Man Ball Blaster” gun shoots celluloid plastic balls, also included are two flashlight funs with original batters and a rubber band gun with cardboard targets. Let the shooting begin!
