really blew us away. Comic character memorabilia is certainly strong – here are
the numbers to prove it!
First, we have a 1930s Celluloid Donald Duck
Windup Toy, with its original box, that sold for $1,600. Donald, at 5″ tall and
featuring his long bill, sold in excellent condition, with his Borfgeldt import
sticker from Japan still intact. The box was brilliantly colored and in Near
Mint condition.
Next, we have the original artwork from a 1940 Gum Card
featuring The Lone Ranger. This gorgeous piece, titled “The Interrupted Coach
Robbery,” sold for $5,100, and was marked on the back with the number
17.
We also have a 1966 Ideal Batman Superman Playset that sold for
$12,469.55. This extremely rare playset may be the only one in existence that is
both brand new and in its original display box! The set featured Batman, Robin,
Wonder Woman and Superman.
Last, but never least, we have an
interesting, very rare Bloodshot #0 Chromium Error. While not technically
a piece of comic character memorabilia, we thought we’d share it because of its
unique story. According to a former employee at Valiant Comics, this book was
supposed to feature a special gold stamp. However, the gold didn’t adhere to the
cover during production, making the stamp look platinum. Currently, there are
only four such comics known to exist, and this one sold for $711.01.
Every decade from the 1840s to the 1990s is represented with a special
emphasis on comic and entertainment-related collectibles! Just check out some of
these highlights...
